It was most certainly uplifting and inspiring. Seeing those large format prints up close definitely left me speechless. He went through some of his work with us and also showed some behind the scenes images and videos. A bonus is that he has a good sense of humour too!

One can easily get a free permit to shoot for non commercial use at Grand Central station by emailing them beforehand…Unfortunately the landscape has changed and surrounding skyscrapers have blocked the light streaming through the windows!

To be honest – it was a panic choice. As we arrived at Mapungubwe, my wildlife lens decided it is no longer focussing automatically. So I had to manually focus and it just made me photo-panic…. A good lesson to check equipment before trips.

Her eyes mimicking the wall behind her and the spots of green in her clothes makes this compelling. The contrasting orange places all the focus on her eyes. Wild eyes, maybe scared. The viewer can’t look away and that makes it a masterpiece.
