Morning Calm – Oil on Canvas
Was inspired after watching Martin Osner’s “Fine Art Photography” video – a truly worthwhile video to watch to get perspective into photography and fine art photography.

BMT College September 2023
Applied my new-found knowledge and shot a few portraits of our personnel. Still a couple of hiccups and fine-tuning and learning ahead. But a couple of the images came out looking not too bad, like this picture of Leandra.

It was awesome working with Sascha, even though she probably ended up helping more with the photo-taking part.

Steampunk Workshop at Studio012 in July 2023. More shots from the day. The costumes and get-ups lend themselves to monochrome creations. Even missed a couple of the set-ups, but it was all worth it.
Luke reconned it was time for a bite.

Steampunk Workshop at Studio012 in July 2023. Different costumes, different models, and amazing hair and make-up by Amanda. Had to borrow a camera from a friend because the Canon 2000D didn’t work with the triggers.
Melissa was a great sport during the shoot.

DPC Studio Workshop at Studio012 in June 2023. Ended up shooting late into the evening. But it was worth it. Experimented with a lot of different light settings.

5 Tips Every Street Photographer Should know by Faizal Westcott

Great Street Photography Tips by Faizal. I agree 100% with him that it is an art of observation and requires your full concentration. Some companions might be distracting, but I personally enjoy shooting with another photographer, as long as they don’t get in my way or space.
For me, the photography part is often secondary to the experience. F…Read More

Great tips. Usually flat out tired after a street photography session because I constantly have to use more than just my feet. Great tip on holding the camera and to constantly be ready for the shot. Agree with shooting with other people. Too many may be a distraction and become cumbersome, but in South Africa there are safety in numbers.

Also love the tip on it being “okay” to use the auto settings if it means you’ll get the shot. I still sometimes fumble through the manual settings, and only later discover (eg chimping or review) that I forgot about something simple, but then the moment is gone.
Oh, not really a tip shared in the video, but did notice that most of the stree…Read More
