Applied my new-found knowledge and shot a few portraits of our personnel. Still a couple of hiccups and fine-tuning and learning ahead. But a couple of the images came out looking not too bad, like this picture of Leandra.

Solid composition with the palm tree on a third line, and your location is enviable. Enhance this photo by increasing the contrast. An S-curve using the Tone Curve in Lightroom will make a significant difference. Consider cropping a bit off the bottom, maybe just where the ocean starts, to eliminate that dustbin in the process.
