5 Tips Every Street Photographer Should know by Faizal Westcott

Great Street Photography Tips by Faizal. I agree 100% with him that it is an art of observation and requires your full concentration. Some companions might be distracting, but I personally enjoy shooting with another photographer, as long as they don’t get in my way or space.

Agree with shooting with other people. Too many may be a distraction and become cumbersome, but in South Africa there are safety in numbers.

Also love the tip on it being “okay” to use the auto settings if it means you’ll get the shot. I still sometimes fumble through the manual settings, and only later discover (eg chimping or review) that I forgot about something simple, but then the moment is gone.

This is a very simple, yet effective portrait, complemented by the fitting directional lighting that suits your subject well. I hope you captured a series of varied expressions. What light shaper did you employ for your key light? Next time, do remember to include more details about your lighting setup.
