Try to define photography. Some photos are planned for. Some are staged, posed and structured. Then there are the photos that just happen, a fleeting moment that will forever be perfect. Just because it happened and because it is life, and someone…Read More

      • First time I’ve seen this eye-catching photo and it immediately struck a chord! The scene seems almost staged and has a cinematic quality, appearing as though it could be part of a movie. I love how the main subjects – the boy and the policeman – are isolated against the “extras”, apart from the man on the right glancing down and smiling at them.…Read More

      ISO 400, 1/4000 sec at f/1.8 on a Canon EOS-R with a 50mm lens.

Photographed my beautiful wife during an early autumn photography class. We dodged the rain, and the late afternoon sun briefly lit the scene. I edited the shot in Lightroom, using a Kodachrome preset for a vintage look and cloned in extra leaves and…Read More

      • For a prime lens, my favourite is the 85mm f/1.4. I don’t own one but often find myself borrowing it. It’s an exceptional lens for portraits, although the Canon version is quite pricey. I’m considering the Canon RF 85mm F2 MACRO IS STM as an alternative. Its 1:2 macro feature makes it versatile, good for portraits, and ideal for product…Read More

      • For the prime, I have to go with the 50mm. I am not a seasoned photographer, but the affordable nifty-fifty has served me well, and I have been able to catch a couple of good images with it. The 1.8 50s, including those for the mirrorless, are affordable, sharp (in my opinion) lenses. Getting into photography, this is a great lens. I have,…Read More
