Portrait shoot client preparation tips.

Essential Guide to Preparing Clients for a Photoshoot

When we collaborate with hairstylists and makeup artists for portrait shoots, guiding our clients on preparation is crucial. A well-prepared client allows hairstylists and makeup artists to work efficiently, ensuring top results. In my experience, unprepared clients can delay the shoot. Hairstylists find it challenging to style dirty hair, and makeup artists struggle with poorly prepared skin, cutting into valuable shooting time.

Here’s a handy guide covering key preparation steps from skincare to haircare, which you should send well in advance to your clients. This will ensure that they come prepared and help us capture them at their best.

  • SKIN: Arrive on the shoot day with a clean and lightly moisturised face.
  • BROWS: Ensure your eyebrows are neatly shaped for a polished appearance.
  • LIP CARE: Exfoliate your lips two days in advance for smoother makeup application.
