Hi Everyone, I’m a new Pro member. Great to be a part of the Tribe.
I have a family 50th next weekend and I would love some guidance/discussion on a few areas please…
1. What’s the best lens to use? I have a 15-35mm, a 50mm prime and a 85mm prime…
2. What’s the best lighting solution? It will be a typical house party. Some areas will be w…Read More3 Comments-
You didn’t mention when the event will be taking place. Nighttime or daytime? If indoors, consider using a speedlight and bounce flash to eliminate harsh shadows and bring light into the eye sockets. Daytiome, or evening, always ensure that people’s eye sockets aren’t dark or sunken. I’ve posted a short tutorial on bounce flash last week – do c…Read More

Brilliant feedback, thxs Danie. The function will be late afternoon into the evening. The 85mm is a F/1.2. Ill definitely check the tutorial out. ill post some of pics to to show the outcome.

Great! The 85mm f/1.2 is an amazing lens. On an APS-C camera, it might be a little too long, but as I said, it’s fantastic for candids and those shallow DoF portraits.
If you haven’t used a speedlight before, it might be quite challenging. As long as you tell them you are still learning, they won’t expect too much. Don’t be afraid to experiment,…Read More

Your thoughts please.
5DMk4, Samyang 2.8 14mm, 1/15 sec at f5.6, ISO 200, Tripod. Post in lightroom. My question is this: The first edit, the darker one, is fairly close to the actual look and feel of the house but the agent asked me to do a lighter edit. Love to hear thoughts on this. Looking through portfolios of photographers specialising in…Read More2 Comments -

Thank you for posting, Riette. Egyptian geese are an excellent choice for practising bird photography skills. You can find them just about everywhere where there is water. These are a few pointers that could help if you are interested in bird photography. Firstly, don’t give up! then, try your best to get the entire bird sharp using a faster…Read More

Need some advice. I currently use a Canon R camera and I am considering trading in on a R6 Mkii. Mainly due to IBIS. I am finding my photos are not sharp enough especially at 400mm on my 100 to 400.
Also then considering upgrading the 100 400mk2 to the RF 100 500.
Any opinions will be appreciated

R6mkii is an absolute beast of a camera, love mine. It will definitely make a big difference on sharpness with the 100-500 RF lens. The R6mkii is on black friday special at the moment. My advice, you cant go wrong with this upgrade. Also the focusing system on the R6mkii is next level, I dont miss focus anymore.
