Few people realise that a portrait can still be be very moody, even when shot against a bright backdrop—when the subject is silhouetted. This is an excellent example, Ray, and congratulations on your photo award!

Thank you! I really appreciate your comment on my work. Yes, definitely agreed with your advice. It was my first silhouetted portrait ever without any practice and trying. I was shooting with this gorgeous model and just did it without a plan haha. Will share the result when I try my 2nd try 😁

Another excellent upload! I love the drama and mood, and how the clouds lead the eye to the vintage and rustic tractor. However, the area just beyond the tractor is too bright compared to the rest. Then also, applying a radial filter to add a touch more light to the tractor would really enhance the image. I’d love to see a re-edit of this o…Read More

Excellent black-and-white portrait! The directional lighting is superb, with great separation of the black tones against the pure black background. It’s a fantastic example of how to showcase a masculine subject.

Rob, I enjoy the simplicity of this black-and-white portrait, particularly the models expressions, your triangular composition, and the bold edit. Perhaps cropping slightly from the bottom could emphasise the strong facial structures and expressions even more. Another Photo Award—congratulations!
