Luminograms are photographic images created by exposing light-sensitive paper directly to light, without using a camera. While researching the technique for our Fine Art Photography Course, I came across this video by Michael Jackson on how he uses this medium to create works of art.

Jacques, I don’t know why we always choose the coldest day of the year to run a street photography course, but it played in ouyr hands here. Excellent, Great styling and setup! A slightly higher / more tilted perspective will have shown more of your subject. the soup. I suggest you add a little bit more punch by very slightly dropping the overall exposure and lift the soup/contents with a radial gradient, also adding texture and a little bit of clarity. Renate, it’s crucial for photographers to frequently revisit their older work. Firstly, to gauge your growth, and sometimes, after a fresh edit or crop, you might realise you had a gem like this macro shot all along! Congratulations on your feature!

This is an absolutely stunning shot, and you are really brave for getting so close to a wasp nest! The Canon 100mm Macro lens it is such a great lens, I love mine too.

Thank you, Rosalie! I took the picture early in the morning when they are still fairly lethargic. It reduces the risk somewhat. Later in the day they are quite aggressive and take a menacing posture by aligning their stings in the direction of the perceived threat.
