Range Rover Under a Bridge, Springs, 2019

    ISO 100, 1/30 sec at f/4, Canon 6D with a 45mm Tilt-Shift Lens (Manual Focus)

In Springs, Pieter Uys and I embarked on a project focused on urban architecture and street photography. While exploring the suburbs one day, I experimented with slow shutter speeds and intentional camera movement to capture people and cars. A red Range Rover passing by presented the perfect opportunity. The slow shutter speed resulted in an intriguing photograph; I particularly love the blurred effect on the back wheel and how the reds pop.

Editing: I used Ted Forbes’s Kodachrome 1990s Preset, enhancing the reds and adding a slight green hue to the windows with radial masks. This edit follows the same crop and editing style as my previous post “Red Shoes,” making it part of a series.

About Me

Danie Bester

DPC Founder, Programme Director. Fine Art and Commercial Photographer

The more abstract forms of photography like impressionism and minimalism intrigue me. I prefer creating images that depict energy, mood, and silence. To illustrate my themes, I use mainly long exposures, selective focus, and focus blur. My philosophy is that the camera is just a paintbrush and that thought-provoking images stem from a developed mind.
