Between 1977 and 1980, she captured herself in sixty-seven different scenes, transforming into diverse characters that highlight conventional roles of women in society.
Still #21 depicts a moment on a New York street. The image’s low angle amplifies the city’s dominance, surrounding the subject and emphasising her solitude amidst the urban landscape. This angle also accentuates her significance, placing her as the main figure against the city backdrop. Her attire echoes memories of the 1950s and 1960s films. Yet, it’s her expression that truly engages the viewer. Those eyes, looking to the side, suggest anticipation, curiosity, or possibly wariness. Such a glance raises questions: What has caught her attention? A known face, a potential opportunity, or a hidden threat?
