    I love cropping some of my portraits above the eyebrows. In my view, it draws more attention to the eyes – especially if there are other elements that carry visual weight in the image.

    • We appreciate her expression and how you’ve juxtaposed her against the open interior space. Here are some tips to consider:

      Traditionally, it’s fine to crop a head-and-shoulders portrait through the top of the head, but avoid cropping right above the eyebrows. Comparing this with the original crop could be enlightening.

      Positioning your model to the side and using a wide-angle lens may distort the subject. Shooting from a low angle and closely can also make features, like the hand and head, appear disproportionately large.
