Few people realise that a portrait can still be be very moody, even when shot against a bright backdrop—when the subject is silhouetted. This is an excellent example, Ray, and congratulations on your photo award!
Just a slight heads-up for next time: ensure your backlight isn’t too overpowering. If you look closely, the loose hair strands on top…Read More

About Me
Helen Bissett
Part time photographer
My photography journey started with my Husband insisting on buying himself a camera. I was not convinced that he would make the most out of this expensive camera. I was pleasantly surprised by his passion for photography. He just simply had an amazing natural talent!
It was not long after, that my husbands passion-bug caught me. From not being interested in taking photos, to having my own camera and equipment.
My journey as a photographer has started. I intend on making every opportunity available for me to grow and develop my skills. I believe my genre will reveal itself.

The layering of the composition is brilliant, with the foreground details leading to the wagon in the middle ground and then to the clouds and mountains in the background. It’s a fantastic example of creating depth in landscape photography. Just a heads-up: the…Read More
