Bucket
After a chaotic day on the beach with families playing, swimming, laughing and having fun all that is left behind is an old faithful bucket. Everyone has had a bucket to play with on the beach at some stage of their lives. No tech no cell phones …. Just a bucket,,, to dig a hole or build a sand castle. I’m sure the…Read More -

Hi everyone, I’m no pro at this photography gig but why not submit a few of my favourite BW portraits. I’s love some feedback, thoughts or comments…..

On a recent trip to Dubai i took this photo of the Burj Khalifa. Applied 2 different edits.
Canon R7, 1/8sec, f/5.6, ISO800
Thoughts or comments?? i could have probably gone with a higher aperture and bit more mood in the 2nd edit- its a bit cold.

Gavin, your images are nice, but they are a bit flat. You can significantly enhance them by increasing the contrast and applying some basic editing. As a starting point, try using the Architectural+ Preset from the Lightroom Course you completed.

2. What’s the best lighting solution? It will be a typical house party. Some areas will be w…Read More3 Comments-

Daytiome, or evening, always ensure that people’s eye sockets aren’t dark or sunken. I’ve posted a short tutorial on bounce flash last week – do c…Read More

Brilliant feedback, thxs Danie. The function will be late afternoon into the evening. The 85mm is a F/1.2. Ill definitely check the tutorial out. ill post some of pics to to show the outcome.

Great! The 85mm f/1.2 is an amazing lens. On an APS-C camera, it might be a little too long, but as I said, it’s fantastic for candids and those shallow DoF portraits.
If you haven’t used a speedlight before, it might be quite challenging. As long as you tell them you are still learning, they won’t expect too much. Don’t be afraid to experiment,…Read More
