    • What a stunning image Wolter👍 If your focal length was 400mm your speed should have been 1/1200, but it worked perfectly at 1/1000 . Your image is perfectly sharp where it matters👍Thank you for sharing.

    1/6000sec – f/5.6 – ISO 640 – Nikon D4- Nikon 70-200mm – Manual Mode – Flash Not Fired

When photographing birds, the general perception is that you need a focal length of at least 600mm. As mentioned above, I used a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens for this shot. I kept my shutter (Tv)…Read More

    • Hi Bruna. Thank you for sharing the details and providing context. This is truly what is beneficial of this site – to get input/feedback that will permit one to improve their own skills. Perhaps posting something like this under “Articles & Tutorials” will give it more sustainability and longevity, otherwise the post will quickly be “lost” in the…Read More

      • Thank you Bruno. I am working on some articles that I will soon post. We are also going to do a summary of the low light photography and place this under articles.

It’s no secret that wildlife and nature photography is a male-dominated area. More men enter wildlife photography competitions and more men win. The first female winner of the Wildlife Photographer of the year was in 1…Read More

    • Landie, I was taken aback to hear about the discrimination you faced, especially in a field that should ideally be free from gender bias. Women have every right to engage in wildlife photography just as much as men do. There’s no reason why you should back off or limit your subject matter based on outdated expectations.

Your work is a compelling…Read More

      • Thank you Danie. I was quite shocked at the time.
I feel this is in the same category as a lion on a kill or a leopard in a tree with a kill. But it was not received with the same awe for raw nature. Perhaps because baboons are not viewed as hunters?

Understandably people won’t print this as A0 and hang it on a wall. But just viewing the m…Read More

    • Landie, as a female wildlife photographer, I totally understand where you are coming from. The reason why we are wildlife photographers is because we are the voices in the wild. We are blessed with witnessing a moment and share it with someone not so fortunate…We tell the story, it’s got nothing to do with gender👍

  • Join hands and save the wildlife. Earth without wildlife is life without beautiful things. Help the animals to thrive before they become extinct. Never support animal abuse or abusers.
