About the Creative Photography Programme

Our creative photography classes are designed for people who want to discover the multiplicity of styles and approaches in the world of photography. This course consists of separate modules that focus on creative and artistic photography where we emphasise design principles, visual language and storytelling principles. Through a series of visually inspiring classes, we teach our students how to create photos that evoke feeling and imagination. The course culminates in a solid presentation on photography projects and how to best present your work online, or in print.

Interactive Online Sessions

The classes are presented on the Zoom online platform and the sessions are highly collaborative. Class recordings and additional study materials are accessible on our online platform.

Who is this course for?

The Creative Programme is suitable for every type of photographer and skill-level; whether you’re interested in Editorial, Commercial or Fine Art Photography, or simply want to expand your visual intelligence.

Presented by

The creative photography course is presented by Danie Bester and John Fox.

Danie is the founder of DPC and is a well-respected photography educator and accomplished fine art photographer. He has been hailed by Photo World Magazine, as a Knight of Photography as Art and has been awarded the Admired in Africa’s Grand Master Award for his contributions to the Photography Industry in Africa. His philosophy about photography is that the camera is just a tool; and that true creativity comes from inside and through studying and applying visual tools and principles.

John Fox is a fine-art and macro photographer who is one of the most detailed and technically apt photographers in South Africa. John’s drive to uplift the standard and appreciation of photography as a credible art form in South Africa has led him to lecture on the subject. He works with DPC to develop and present course material on some of the more specialist subject matter.

There will be a brief pause between the Visual Storytelling and Developing a Personal Style classes to make provision for the school holidays and festive season.
